Planning a Marquee Wedding

GUIDE TO CREATING A DREAM MARQUEE WEDDING

Marquee weddings are becoming ever more popular. Realising your dream of creating your own bespoke wedding and party venue, rather than fitting into the dimensions and restrictions at some venues, has led to us receiving a lot more marquee wedding enquiries recently. We have many years of experience in delivering marquee events and are happy to say that is’s a really great option!

For many, the logistics involved in creating a marquee wedding can be daunting, but we are experts in this area, so let us be your guide.

There are definitely a few things to consider when planning a marquee wedding, as the technical and logistical challenges are often greater than that of a building, but the flexibility and creative flair it enables far outweighs the challenges, and as your luxury wedding planners, we will take care of everything for you.

LOCATION

Then location of your marquee venue is the first and most important thing in the process. Many beautiful countryside venues also allow for marquee weddings in their grounds. But central London also has some incredible gardens and walled spaces that allow marquee weddings, many of them unknown, but not to us. We know some amazing outdoor spaces that work wonderfully for a marquee wedding, both in London and the great outdoors.

STYLE AND DESIGN

There are so many styles, so don’t think marquees are big white blocks. Clear span marquees where guests can see the stars, raj tents, stretch tents, teepees and open sided are some of the incredible styles available. Think about your wedding location and the surroundings and incorporate this into your style choice. For example, if you are getting married in the woods with a rustic vibe then a boho style tepee would work really well. Where there are incredible views that you don’t want your guests to miss, then think about an open sided or glass roofed marquee.

Garden statues and fountains can also make incredible statement pieces in a marquee venue, and they can be built into the design.

BUILD TIME

Many marquee structures can take up to a week to build, with the average time needed being 3-4 days. When planning the wedding schedule, make sure enough time is dedicated to this important part. Having a wedding in the UK also means that our great British weather can sometimes get in the way, so this can also impact the build time in extreme circumstances.

SUPPLIERS

The great thing about having a marquee wedding is that you can choose the exact suppliers you want, which means creating the experiences on the day exactly how you want them. From your pick of the best caterers, to decor, styling and entertainment, the possibilities are endless, and you can choose the right suppliers to fit with your style and theme.

COST

The cost of a marquee wedding can often be more than hiring a venue, and that is because you are literally building your own! With that comes all the elements needed to make it work. Kitchens, power, water, electricity in addition to furniture, decor, lighting, production, flooring to name a few. But having your own space enables you to do so much and change things round as you want to. Knowing how incredible a marquee wedding looks makes it a worthwhile investment, enabling you to literally have the wedding you have always dreamt of.
